The order followed in this message is the one most New Testament scholars accept for the five accounts of the Great Commission spoken by Jesus Christ during His 40 days on earth after His Resurrection from the dead and up to the time of His Ascension.
John 20:21 records the 1st time Jesus gave the Great Commission
* Remember, He spoke these words to His Father in prayer before He gave them as a Command, cf. 17:18, end of 2nd Prayer Point.
Notice that the first thing Jesus said in this first recorded account of the Commission was “Peace [quietness, rest, prosperity] to you!”
